O’Reilly wants to try an experiment with the Intermediate Perl PDF. We’re not limited by the physical process of putting ink on paper (and it’s a bit expensive to have more than one color of ink). I’m just going to show you the images and let you tell me what you think.

Why is “qw” red? It’s an operator. It should be blue with the other alpha builtins, and the stuff in between should be red. I know they are probably thinking it’s part of the quote … but it makes it harder to read.
And the different colors for parts of the package names is bizarre, and inconsistent (use Cow vs. Cow::speak … Cow should be same for both … ?).
Other than that, I think it’s probably a little distracting, but I don’t care too much. I don’t know if it will help anyone.
I don’t know why any of the things in the code are colored the way they are. I only use three colors in my own editors.
Just got the ebook from O’Reilly (half price offer this week) and the syntax highlighting looks great. Thanks for including it.
It does look very good indeed, it’s a pity its not in the printed version though.
